Ever since the day when my older brother bought a guitar music has been my main interest in life. I played guitar in numerous bands from the age of 11 from pop/rock bands, death metal, free form improvisation to progressive rock inspired by Yes and Genesis. But during music high school I learned to look at classical music in a totally new way and got intrigued with harmony and counterpoint and started composing small pieces for piano trios and string quartettes. I realized that I had to choose between devoting myself to the guitar or composition - the choice wasn´t hard with the number of great guitarists around.
After high school I went to live on the island of Gotland in the middle of the baltic sea for two years, studying composition at Gotland School of Composition. These two years were a turning point for me in pursuing a career in composition. I tried out so many things with the musicians we worked with at the school. I devoted my time there with developing my composing and orchestration in different styles and genres (I even wrote arrangements for the local big band!) and had lots of successes getting my music performed at different festivals and winning a composition contest for orchestra.
In 2000 I was back in Malmö again to continue my studies in composition and arranging for professor Rolf Martinsson and electroacoustic music with Kent Olofsson. In 2007 I finished my Masters Degree for professor Luca Francesconi. Since then I´ve freelanced as a composer and arranger and I try to be as wide as possible with what I work. I find a lot of joy in doing everything from orchestrations, arrangements for recordings, writing music for film and working with my own contemporary music for musicians, ensembles and orchestras where I can experiment without any limits.
And now, being a part of RoastingHouse, I get to broaden my palette even more working as a in-house arranger and co-writer together with the rest of the gang.
I came to RoastingHouse in the autumn of 2007 as a intern in Studio 1. During those months I got to participate with mixing Cloudscape´s album ”Global drama” and engineered a couple of recording sessions with Three. One thing led to the other and after my internship I was invited to stay and be a part of RoastingHouse. Today I participate in various recording and mixing jobs in Studio 1 as well as having Studio 2 as my main writing/arranging studio.
