Carlito
In 1998 this artist came from nowhere and created a massive hysteria in Scandinavia singing ”Calcutta, taxi taxi”, Rice & Curry” and “S.O.S.(the tiger took my family)?!?! This strange guy “from India” singing with broken English calling himself Dr Bombay and sold 3 x Platinum status in Sweden alone and later in Denmark as well. He toured extensively all over Europe and Asia appearing on MTV, MTV Asia and VIVA, and in the end sold about 1 million albums ! In Germany alone he did a 3 week tour and several TV and radio appearances in 1999. He toured Asia as well for three weeks (Japan, Korea, Malaysia, The Philippines) appearing on all important radio- and TV-shows and even won a price for “the most played artist” on ZIP FM in Japan which he collected in Nagoya.
Now he’s back ! like… CARLITO !!!
his new amazing character… This time a crazy Mexican with Sombrero and fantastic outfit leaving no one indifferent….The songs are happy, funny and given hits! Produced by Anderz Wrethov and also composed by him and his team together with CARLITO.
His single “Carlito (who’s that boy)” entered Top 20 in the Swedish charts and was played on high rotation on most radio channels ! His amazing video was on Nickelodeon Network as a smash hit ! He supported his single with touring in Sweden on several festivals with his spectacular and colourful live show with 3 dancers and 4 “hombres” in Sombreros and ponchos !!! But he was appearing on numerous steaming hot Nightclub’s with a smaller set-up. The debut album “Fiesta” includes the 2nd single “Poco Loco”, which also entered Top 20, and amazing popsongs entitled “Taco boy”, “El Camino”, “Caramba” etc., a feast for every funloving partyanimal !!!!!
The biggest success was yet to come though; Carlito became a huge in Japan and one of the best selling international artists over there (over 70 000 albums and 250 000 downloads) and topping every radio chart in 2006 with his “Go Go Carlito” (Carlito, Who’s that boy?). Carlito performed at the biggest events in Japan in all important cities. The second album “World Wide” established the artist firmly in the Japanese music scene and the word spread fast in all of Asia about his success and during 2008 there are several other territories releasing this incredible and funny artist who began his career with a fantastic success as Dr Bombay ten years ago.
